Here are some handy tips to keep your lawn healthy during winter:
- Mowing: Raise the mower deck to allow for more sunlight & nutrients on the lawn. Mow less while the lawn is dormant - maybe every 3-4 weeks.
- Watering: Reduce the watering. Deep watering sessions rather than frequent light watering.
- Fertilising: Apply a winter-specific fertiliser. Look for higher potassium to strengthen roots and prepare the lawn for cold weather. Potassium helps lawns survive winter stress and recover in spring.
- Aeration: Aerate/core the lawn in late winter to relieve compaction and improve drainage.
- Weed Control: Address weeds using appropriate herbicides if necessary.
- Pest Control: Monitor for pests and diseases and treat them as needed.
